Akwa Ibom — with its beautiful beaches, cultural festivals, cuisine, and emerging hospitality scene — has enormous untapped potential. Participants were challenged to use data to uncover what's holding it back and how to move forward.
Teams received 20 years of simulated tourism data (2005–2025) with 500,000+ records including tourist arrivals, hotel occupancy, spending patterns, satisfaction scores, and reviews.
1–5 participants per team. Cross-functional skills encouraged.
192 hours (8 days) to complete the full submission.
Cleaned dataset/notebook + presentation slides + dashboards.
Python, R, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, and more.
Each team delivered four key outputs by the end of the hackathon.
Properly structured tourism dataset ready for analysis and visualisation.
Interactive dashboards built with the team's chosen visualisation tool.
A concise 10-slide presentation with clear findings and storytelling.
Data-backed strategic recommendations for decision-makers and stakeholders.
Participants registered individually or as teams.
Teams explored the dataset, cleaned, and began building insights.
Teams submitted cleaned datasets, dashboards, and presentation slides.
The top three winning teams were celebrated at the hackathon's closing event.
